COMMUNIDAD

Communidad, located in a large outdoor space at Crawford Memorial Park in southeast Dallas, is envisioned as a place as art. Sited with in a grove of mature oak trees with a perimeter of dense growth, this artwork encourages community gathering in a beloved 100-year-old 272-acre local park, and is suitable for a family picnic, wedding, Quinceñara, or other community gathering to be enjoyed within nature. Comunidad consists of four granite sculptural elements: a multi-purpose platform, a 30’ long seating element, and two elliptical community tables, including an 80-foot-long table, and a smaller 30-foot-long table. Two people or 80 plus people can be seated around the tables in this outdoor space, which is why it is viewed as an artwork that requires people to energize the overall environment. It is intended to be used and enjoyed by all, for generations.
